Wrapping up Front End North 2025, and a look to the future

After a longer than planned sabbatical following our event in July, we're back to share a roundup of the day and most importantly, share our thanks and appreciation for everyone involved.

Looking back through the feedback and all of the smiles in the event photos, the blog posts and related social media posts, we're reminded of how much we enjoyed welcoming you all to Sheffield, it was a cracking day.

Thank you to our speakers and emcees

We were blessed to welcome 8 talented speakers to Sheffield: Andy Bell, Amy Hupe, Amy Rogers, Craig Abbott, Joe Hart, Nils Binder, Olu Niyi-Awosusi and Salma Alam-Naylor.

Thank you for inspiring our audience, and for volunteering your time, you didn't just make our event possible, you were the event, and you were brilliant.

To our emcees, Dave Letorey and Chad Gowler, you are both fantastic humans, and we couldn't have chosen safer hands to place the reigns of our event in!

For those of you who submitted a talk to our Call for Proposals - you made deciding our speaker schedule very difficult, and we loved reading every single one of them.

Thank you to our volunteers

Our 13 volunteers managed an endless amount of logistical and miscellaneous tasks that freed up us organisers to be more reactive and flexible throughout the day.

We couldn't have run Front End Sheffield 2025 without the time and support of Alfie, Becky, Bruno, Daniel, Hanna, Irene, James, Jennie, JP, Matt, Nick, Olakunle and Päivi - thank you for your positive energy and for ensuring the day ran so smoothly!

Thank you to our sponsors

To put it simply, Front End North cannot run without sponsorship, either this year's event, or any future event. As a not-for-profit conference, sponsorship ensures that we can not only operate, but also dictates our ticket price, and helps us ensure the event is accessible and inclusive to all.

20i, Mux, and With Jack made FEN 2025 possible, and have given us the opportunity to come back in the future - we're forever grateful!

Thank you to our attendees

We are humbled to have hosted just shy of 200 of you, our community, to Sheffield. Watching you all stream in on the day reminded us of why we do this, and how important it is for us all to take a step away from the daily grind to meet new people, share ideas, be inspired, and just have a little bit of fun.

Thank you for choosing to attend our event, we loved having you join us. A shout-out to those of you who completed the feedback form, we really appreciate your thoughts, the good and the bad, so we can learn and improve our future events.

Special shout-outs

  • To Andy Carter, our reserve speaker - Having Andy on standby gave us great confidence that we had a brilliant speaker ready to step in case of a last minute change. Keep an eye out for Andy speaking at future events, he's fantastic
  • To our after party venue, The National Videogame Museum - we loved our social, and from our feedback, so did our attendees. Pre-event planning was a breeze, thanks Cat and team!
  • To our photographer, Paul Currie - Paul was responsible for all the great shots, and for capturing the energy of the day
  • To our venue hosts, Sheffield Hallam University - thanks to Zara and Emmanuel for answering a gazillion questions in the build up to the day!
  • To everyone who boosted our socials, passed on the word, shared slides at their own conferences, and generally helped build a buzz around our event - we appreciate you all!

Looking forwards to the future

So what next for Front End North? Watch this space, but not too closely, as we'll not be bouncing straight back in 2026.

Running an event at this scale is a big commitment, and we only want to return when we have the right balance of time, energy and focus. With lots going on in our personal and professional lives, we're going to take a break next year, with the plan of returning in the future, bigger and better than ever.

What to look out for in the meantime
